Juarez Hawkins (b. 1962) is an educator, artist, and curator whose work examines the evolution of identity, spirituality, and the body. A member of the Sapphire and Crystals collective, Hawkins’s work has been exhibited at the South Side Community Art Center, the Stony Island Arts Bank, the Hyde Park Art Center, Woman Made Gallery, and the Logan Center for the Arts. She received her BA from Northwestern University in Computer Studies with a concentration in art, and an MA in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. Hawkins has been awarded the Community Arts Assistance Program Grant, the Oppenheimer Teacher Incentive Grant, and the Chicago Artists Coalition Spark Microgrant.
